ADER's approach
The supply of electricity in rural areas by the means of solar panels helps to :
- Improve living and housing conditions.
- Protect the environment, notably by reducing the need for wood.
- Obtain access to modern means of communication (television, telephone).
- Create employment opportunities.
The supply of electricity by solar panels in West Africa
In Mali, in Senegal, in Mauritania, ADER's approach concerning solar energy is to support the setting up of a solar energy unit through to its autonomy. Setting up this activity entails :
- training local teams to install and service solar energy installations.
- Setting up a local solar energy subsidiary creating jobs in the country concerned, and dedicated to the installation and the servicing of the facilities. This ensures the profitability and the long term survival of the programme.
- Setting up a company in France by the associations of expatriates who provide the solar hardware and eventually take over the subsidiary.
- Access to credit for the expatriates in order to finance the solar energy projects.
Objectives
The main objective is the electricity supply by solar panels of
- Private housing : electricity, television, refrigerators, etc.
- Public facilities : ( health centres, mosques, satellite telephone booths, etc. ) : air cooling, ventilation, sound proofing, electricity, etc.
